Final Reflection
- What have I learnt in this module?
Throughout the module I have learnt so much about the fundamentals of design - what constitute to a good design? For me especially as a minor student, I am always intrigued by all these notion. They impacted my sensory judgements especially in day to day real life designs. I learnt about contrasting, harmony, movement, etc. By knowing all these concepts I have deeper understanding, and appreaciate the works of exceptional artists. - What did I enjoy the most?
I enjoy when I find myself understand the fundamentals of what does a good design look like. I always thought that when it comes to art, it always depends solely on the subjective opinion and sensory of people. But I do realized that, like science principles, art and beauty do adhere to few principles!
Besides, I actually enjoyed the process of not knowing how to even use Procreate, to the final outcome to be presented! I was defeated at the beginning, doubting do I even have the talent or skills to complete the assignment, but I am grateful that I am willing to give it a try despite the short timeline. I learnt a lot and very proud of myself towards the progress. - What did I not enjoy the most
I think that I personally do not enjoy the tight process of all assignment particularly in this short semester ☹ I think that it is too packed and personally I have heavy committments on conferences and club activities. I think the process of creating art takes time and I think the timeframe given to receive feedback and ammendment is to tight. But I do appreciate that Mr.Zeon is patient enough to really understand every work of us and give comprehensive feedback, despite that he has a lot students per session! - What have I learnt about myself through this module?
I learnt that I am action oriented when I find myself has no foundation in drawing at all, but I manage to try and self learn the basics in short period of time. This did give me confidence in myself that I can do the things I want, even if I might not be talented as others. Also I might have interest in expressing through art, maybe even after this module I should explore and try more digital art! 🎨 - What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
I think what has changed is that my perception of art is merely depending on subjective opinions or judgements. I realized that good art relies on principles, composition, contrast, color, movement, etc. not just about expressions. Another thing that has changed is of course my confidence in my skills in drawing as I took time to watch tutorials and at least fulfil the requirements 🙏🏼
What has not change is that habit to procastinate (to be brutally honest 💀) I find myself being too caught up with activities and conference, hence only have the time to complete the module assignments at late nights...... I wish my time management skills can improve so that I can learn more - What could be improved in this module?
I think in general the design of assignments are reasonable and did guide me to learn the principles, and at last, implement it. It does'nt feel unreasonaby packed that the learning experience is easy and allow time to absorb. Maybe in the future can insert components on teaching the fundamentals on basic designing execution skills like digital drawing, image processing, so that it is more beginner friendly 😭 But overall, I am grateful to go through the module! 💖
