Based on what I have on hand, I decided to choose for coins as my objects to arrange. Before I start, I did some research so I can have a clearer idea on how to craft out my structure.

Visual Inspiration (given by lecturer);
Visual Inspiration (online);
After Mr. Fauzi guidance I understand that there are a lot information that I can leverage on:
  • color (silver, gold)
  • value (10sen, 20sen, 50sen)
  • size (small, medium big)
Start to play with initial ideas...
Initially, I decided to arrange coins that form 1 ringgit in a circular motion and connect them.
At the end of the class I wasn't really satisfied for the outcome. Mr. Fauzi gave me recommendation to sketch out ideas, only work it out on paper, with this I can have better visuals in mind. Hence I started to sketch out:
During the sketching process I found a better arrangement! Hence I started the process.

🎨Outcome🎨

In this piece, I presented the coins into "what can I buy" for a kid. In a bar chart format, viewer can understand what can they buy with the 26 coins on hand. Also, beside there are more details on amount of different types of coins. The idea is to make the information clear yet playful as the item revolves around childhood theme.

💬Reflection💬

As this is the first week of class, this exercise felt like exploring what kind of module this is. I was quite clueless when starting, but along the way I get to learn on how to arrange data set on hand, then present it clearly with graphics and arrangement. It was fulfilling yet hectic as it is due during CNY season I had to cramp my time in this.
