Digital Photography & Imaging - Week 2

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND IMAGING

💡Week 2💡

Lecture
  • before officially starting our first week we are introduced to the composition : rules of third, golden ratio, and how a good collage is composed of big, medium, small elements.
  • Composition components:
    • Focal Point
    • Scale & Hierarchy
    • Balance the elements
    • White Space
  • Rule of Thirds & the Golden ratio are the important concepts when it comes to obtaining a good composition

Task Assigned

  • based on the composition rules, make 3 collages based on the magazines collected
  • also we have to use cam scanner to scan the collage so that representation is at finest quality
Progress
  • we started our progress in photography room
  • i started with skimming the magazines and cutting the elements i find handy
  • Also I consciously categorized the cut outs based on the size: big medium small so that its easier to compose balance designs
  • After effort and continuous feedback below are my final outcome

    # 1 design

the main inspiration is to keep the overall representation as simplistic and minimalist, I also like how the center message "artistic h-intuition" fits the design notion.

    # 2 design

I wanted to make more complex and playful design hence in this design I make it a more comical impression, also it has a colorful composition

    # 3 design

After few attempts I got more confidence and brave to make bolder designs, I started with the model cut out, and cut a basic text body circle, with a title "wealth", to correspond to the tile I intentionally add few watches in here.
Reflection

  • To be honest I am very stuck when starting as I thought the magazines and materials I gathered are not pretty and relevant enough to compose a good design
  • but after Mr Fauzi gave feedback and guidance that not every design should be complicated and white space can also make a decent design I start to have basic initial idea.
